MiteGuard Fabrics

MiteGuard2 Premium covers are made from the renowned Pristine^® precision microweave fabric, a breakthrough in allergen protection which sets the standard for comfort, ease of laundering and effectiveness.

Before Pristine^® was developed, allergen barrier fabrics were made by applying a polyurethane coating to normal bed sheeting materials which, although they prevented allergen particles coming through, allowed little or no air to pass through.   These older fabrics were less comfortable, took a long time to dry after washing and had a more limited lifespan compared to Pristine^®.

When it was first developed, Pristine^® was studied by one of the World's leading allergy specialists Professor Tom Platts-Mills of the University of Virginia Asthma and Allergic Diseases Centre.   His research team found that Pristine^® blocked all detectable dust mite allergen particles while allowing 86% of the air-flow that passes through standard polyester/cotton sheeting.⁽¹⁾

Needless to say, Pristine^® is considered the best allergen barrier fabric available.

Miteguard Cotton Natural is a similar style of fabric but is 100% cotton, which is ideal for those who prefer natural bedding products.
