These highly-effective cot mattress protectors are made from natural cotton micro-weave barrier fabric. They fully enclose your child's mattress for the best allergy protection.

The dust mite protector's design prevents dust-mites and allergen dust from getting into or escaping from the mattress. There is an internal flap to stop allergen leakage through the zip. The quality zip extends halfway around the protector, so you can easily insert your mattress into the protector and zip it up.

Dust-mite allergen can make symptoms of asthma, rhinitis (runny nose/cough) or eczema worse, so protecting your child from allergen and dust-mites in their cot mattress is a good way to help keep their environment allergy-free and better for sleep.

The fabric we use is called 'micro-weave', because the gaps in the weave have been reduced to only 3.5 microns - small enough to stop dust-mites or allergen particles travelling from the mattress to your child. The precision regularity of the weave, combined with the tiny pore size, is what makes our dust-mite barrier fabric so effective. Normal cotton bedding cannot do this. Scientific pressure testing with real allergen, has shown our mattress fabric, seams and zip construction blocks > 99.9% of dust mite and cat allergens to below detectable levels.

Normal cot sheets (and your child's brolly sheet) go on top of the MiteGuard mattress protector to allow for easy weekly washing - your MiteGuard® protector only needs to be washed every 2-3 months.

  • If you are unsure which cot size you have, have a quick look at the width (European: 600mm, American: 690mm, Boori: 760mm). A Boori size can also be used for an American cot - it will just have some spare fabric to tuck in. Check our size guide here.
  • These protectors can also be used for Port-a-cots, but they are made for deeper cot mattresses, so there will be spare fabric in the length and depth. You may want to choose a slightly smaller size.

Features:

  • Made slightly oversize to allow for shrinkage when hot-washed
  • Made in New Zealand
  • 3.5 micron fabric - stops cat and dust-mite allergen
  • Breathable 100% cotton - great for young children with sensitive skin

Product Care

Wash your MiteGuard® Covers in hot water (60°C) every 3 months. We recommend doing a hot wash every time the seasons change.

In the meantime, you can vacuum your covers, or wipe them with a damp cloth between washes to keep allergen levels down.
